With the power generating companies and government indicating more power cuts in the coming days, the demand for inverters, UPS and batteries has increased in the market.
There is good demand for branded power systems and more than ten companies are offering inverters and solar systems at different prices to the customers. Company distributors and dealers are selling huge number of power systems every day.
As summer is the peak period for improving sales due to increased load shedding in the State, power systems manufacturing companies are competing on prompt delivery, and service to attract the customers.
Sales managers and distributors of various companies said that they were receiving a number of orders, an increase of more than 100 per cent compared to the previous years.
Speaking to The Hindu on Wednesday, Su-Kam Power Systems Limited vice-president Samit Mitra said that in Andhra Pradesh, the company has made Rs.25 crore business last year. This year, the target is Rs.60 crore.
“We produce inverters, UPS, batteries, generators and solar systems. More than 100 per cent market was recorded in the last three years in the State. The demand is more than the supply. The company is having about 1,200 dealers and 85 distributors in AP,” said Mr. Mitra.
‘Small inverters '
Company South division D. Vijay Babu said that Su-Kam plans to manufacture small inverters which were affordable for poor and middle class families. At present, the company was offering inverters with cost ranging between Rs.4,000 and Rs.15 lakh for households and commercial purposes, he said. “Due to increase in power cuts by the day, customers are placing more number of orders. Mostly people were preferring inverters which are less in cost, safe, no sound and pollution. Every day we receive about 50 orders for inverters,” said a distributor in Vijayawada city. The manufacturing companies are supplying inverters, UPS, generators and solar systems in different sizes for various purposes. The price of a unit depends upon the battery backup and the brand, he said.
