Walk held to create awareness on obesity

Hundreds of students, policemen, doctors, senior citizens and others took part in the campaign for awareness on obesity in the city on Sunday.

The campaign was organised by city’s Livlife Hospitals on the occasion of Anti-Obesity Day.

Ministers Kamineni Srinivas and Devineni Umamaheswara Rao along with Dr. Nandakishore Dukkipati, Managing Director & Chief Bariatric Surgeon of LivLife Hospitals led the three-kilometre walk part of the campaign.

The walk began at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium and ended at the same place via M.G. Road and Raghavaiah Park junction.

School students and armed reserve policemen carried placards with messages creating awareness on health and the need to fight obesity. Some of the placards read ‘Obesity which is killing the world is preventable,’ ‘You are already sweet, say no to sweet,’ ‘Prevent Childhood obesity, shape future,’ ‘One must eat to live, not live to eat,’ and other messages.

Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohan Rao, Telugu Yuvatha leader Devineni Avinash and others were present.
