Wage ceiling for PF contribution enhanced

Wage ceiling for provident fund contribution has been enhanced from Rs.6,500 to Rs.15,000 and the maximum benefit under the EDLI scheme has been increased from Rs.1.56 lakh to Rs.3.6 lakh, said Indira Thirumala Raju, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner II.

“These amendments are effective from September 1 and are applicable to the October salary,” she said while addressing an interactive session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) here on Thursday.

Under the Guntur region, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts are covered and an average of 45 per cent compliance with Universal Account Number (UAN) has been achieved. She instructed the employers to complete the formalities of disclosing bank account number, PAN number and Aadhaar card of their employees at the earliest and get the approval for digital signature.

“Now that Vijayawada region is declared as the capital of Andhra Pradesh, a proposal to set up a new office has been sent to the State government,” said Ms. Indira.

ESI Dispensary Vijayawada town, Deputy civil surgeon Dr. K.V.S Bhagyalakshmi and ESIC Vijayawada Deputy Director (Insurance – I) J. Padmavathy also spoke on the occasion.

CII Vijayawada Zone chairman V.V.M Krishna said the objective behind the session was to provide a platform for employers and employees to know more about the latest amendments and get their doubts cleared.
