Vishnu-Gowtham on collision course?

April 03, 2014 12:51 am | Updated May 21, 2016 07:48 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Vijayawada Central constituency sitting MLA Malladi Vishnu and YSRC convener for the same constituency P. Gowtham Reddy seem to be on a collision course.

With each passing day, the chances of Mr. Vishnu joining the YSRC are improving putting him on a collision course with Mr. Reddy, who is aspiring for a party ticket to contest from the Vijayawada Central constituency.

Mr. Reddy’s “unprovoked” attack on Mr. Vishnu here on Wednesday came as a consolidation of the doubts by many that the YSRC high command will make a last moment switch and replace the former with the sitting MLA.

Mr. Reddy has been a YSRC loyalist. He took an active part in the party activities beginning with the “Laksha Deeksha” as part of which party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy fasted for 48-hours to highlight the plight of rain-hit farmers and weavers on the sands of Krishna River downstream Prakasam Barrage.

A corporator of the CPI Mr. Reddy defected to the Congress under YSR. He shifted to the YSRC after Dr. Rakasekhara Reddy’s death.

Mr. Vishnu too was very close to YSR, but did not defect to the new party.
