Vijayawada colleges resort to hi-tech monitoring of students

Gone are the days when students could bunk their classes at will and go for a movie or outing with friends. Vijayawada-based information technology firm Racewin Technologies has launched new Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) software which can be integrated with the college server to send an instant message to parents on students’ attendance status.

An SMS goes to the parents stating “Your ward is absent today - please make a note of it”, if the boy or girl bunks classes. Launching the software here on Friday, Racewin representative Bh. Ravi Kishore said that the software was designed to suit both junior and professional colleges.

Marks too

“Apart from attendance update, the software is also designed to inform the marks of the students to their parents. The only thing that the colleges need to do is to integrate this software into the server and route it through Internet or Intranet platform to our server,” he added.

The software will be marketed by Vijayawada-based Morgan Technologies across the State. “We have observed that there is a lack of communication between the college, students and parents. This software will bridge that gap,” said Morgan Technologies Managing Director G. Rama Rao.

Elaborating on the operation of the system, Mr. Kishore said that the colleges need to upgrade the database and each student given a unique IVRS number. From then on his or her record will be monitored and informed accordingly to the parents, he explained.
