City station gets SCR’sfirst executive lounge

Built at a cost of ₹1 cr., it offers a host of facilities

The South Central Railway (SCR) and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) have launched the first executive lounge, built at a cost of ₹1 crore, on Platform No.1 at the Vijayawada railway station on Wednesday.

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) R. Dhananjayulu, Additional DRMs M.V.S. Ramaraju and G. Sumana, IRCTC Group General Manager D. Narsing Rao and other officials graced the inauguration of the lounge.

The executive lounge is equipped with a host of facilities, including newspapers, television, magazines, hot and soft beverages, free Internet, wash room and locker.

Entry charges

Separate waiting room is arranged for women passengers.

Entry charges will be ₹150 for first two hours and each additional hour will be charged at ₹50.

Paid services such as shower room, combo breakfast and combo snacks at ₹150 each, vegetarian and non-vegetarian lunch and dinner combos at ₹250 and ₹275 respectively would be offered, said Mr. Dhananjayulu.

Business centre

“We are planning to introduce a business centre with concierge, travel desk and other facilities soon,” said Mr. Narsing Rao.
