A group of people with YSR Congress MP V. Vijayasai Reddy in the lead were sparing no efforts to see that Centre stops giving funds for the Polavaram project, Minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao charged here on Monday.
Speaking to the media at his camp office, Mr. Umamaheswara Rao said that a few leaders were spreading canards that there was huge corruption in the execution of the project.
“In the morning, former MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar holds a press conference in Rajahmundry, in the afternoon former IAS officer E.A.S. Sarma holds a press conference in Visakhapatnam and in the evening YSR Congress MP V Vijayasai Reddy carries all this to the Prime Minister’s Office,” Mr. Umamaheswara Rao said.
A former journalist now passing off as a lawyer was filing cases against the State government in the Supreme Court, he said.
On the same lines, a relative of YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Mr Vijayasai Reddy were trying to do everything in their means to ensure that the Owk Tunnel and other projects that take water to different areas in Rayalaseema were not completed. “If the tunnel is completed, another 5,000 cusecs will reach Pulivendula and surrounding areas. This will literality put an end to their political career,” Mr. Umamaheswara Rao said.
The Minister wondered why Mr. Jagan completely forgot the demand for Special Category Status (SCS) while extending support to the candidates fielded by the NDA for the President and Vice-President posts.
‘New drama in the offing’
The Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly “disappeared without an address and is roaming around on the roads trying to obstruct development work,” the Minister alleged.
The YSR Congress was raising the curtain for a new drama with the resignations of its MPs the Minister said and asked whether its Rajya Sabha members Mr. Vijayasai Reddy and V. Prabhakar Reddy were prepared to do the same.
The TDP entered into an alliance with the BJP even before the elections and continued the friendship after the elections too. No funds were allocated for Andhra Pradesh which was bifurcated most unscientifically, in three Union budgets. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu registered his protest to no avail.
