Vignanothsav-2013, a carnival for school children, ended on a grand note on the campus of Vignan Globalzen School premises on Sunday evening.
At the valedictory event, chief guests Chinna Jeeyar Swamy and Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao called for de-stressing the environment in schools. Chinna Jeeyar Swamy said that human being was being embroiled in one controversy or the other ever since his birth and said that human beings should harness their strength and renew their bonding with nature.
Chairman of Vignan Group of Educational Institutions Lavu Rathaiah called for spiritual nourishment on school campuses. He said that human values were being eroded and cited the rape of a paramedical student in New Delhi. Earlier, state finals of Vignanothsav kickstarted. Chairman Lavu Rathaiah and senior citizen welfare association president N. Tirupathaiah inaugurated the competitions conducted in 18 disciplines. More than 2,000 students took part in the finals.
In the cultural and literary events category, Guntur Central Public School won the first prize, followed by Akshara Techno School, Hyderabad. Students from Vignan Global Zen School stood out as winners in the singing competition, followed by Venkateswara Bala Kuteer. In dance, Vignan Global Zen School stood out as winners followed by Bhashyam Blooms.
Zonal incharge of Vignan Schools, Gudimella Koormanath, principals Ch. Srinivas and K. Dhanalakshmi, sports coordinator T. Raghavaiah were also present.
