The Right to Information Act should be used for achieving “gram swaraj’ by working for a corruption-free and transparent society. The Samachara Hakku Prachara Ikya Vedika (A.P) at its second State conference held in Ongole on May 4 and 5 decided that the RTI should be used for rural development through the implementation of the 73 and 74 amendments.
The Ikyavedika secretary K.Prasad Siva Rao and general secretary Jampa Krishna Kishore said that over 300 RTI activists participated in the conference.
The conference began with the hoisting of the organisation flag by vice-president Ch.Venkatarmaiah. State president P.Surendra Babu presided.
New body
The second vice-president V.Brahma Reddy submitted a report about the achievements of organisation in the past three-and-a-half years.
The new body of the organisation was elected unanimously at the end of the two-day conference.
The newly-elected office-bearers are – honorary president V.Brahma Reddy, president P.Surendra Babu, vice-presidents T.Krishnamurti Raju and A. Loknath, general secretaries J Krishna Kishore, P. Venugopal Reddy, secretaries K.P. Siva Rao, A Rajanna, Sheik Abdul Raheem, and treasurer M.Madhavi.
