: Two persons riding two bikes were killed when a car hit them at Komatikunta Lakulu under Kankipadu police station limits on the Vijayawada-Gudivada road on Tuesday.

The impact of the collision was so powerful that the car and a bike and a body fell into the canal from the bridge. Three others were injured.

The dead have been identified as M.V.R. Someswara Rao (45) of Ibrahimpatnam and Velivella Naga Babu (35), a native of Mudinepalli mandal in Krishna district, said Kankipadu Circle Inspector K. Sridhar Kumar.

The injured – Mannem Rambabu (car driver), Baby and V. Vijay – were admitted in hospital where the condition of Rambabu was said to be critical. Villagers rushed the injured to the hospital and the two bodies were shifted to the Government General Hospital here. “The car was on its way to Gudivada when the accident occurred. We are trying to find out the reasons for the accident,” said Mr. Sridhar Kumar.
