The Central Crime Station (CCS) police on Wednesday arrested 12 persons who allegedly committed thefts and recovered booty, worth about ₹6 lakh, from them.

DCPs G. Pala Raju and G.V.G. Ashok Kumar said K. Chandra Naik got addicted to cricket betting and other vices.

He allegedly stole a passenger’s bag in Pandit Nehru Bus Station. Police arrested him and recovered 7.5 kg of silver ornaments.

In other case, the police apprehended three youth, who allegedly were involved in chain snatching and robberies. The accused, P Sai Narendra, K. Lakshman Kumar and T. Srinu, allegedly attacked the victims.

Based on the CCTV clippings recorded at various places, the police identified them, said Mr. Pala Raju.

In a separate case, the police arrested two transgenders, a woman and another person for robbing people.

The modus operandi of the accused was to target the youth at isolated places. The accused, G. Kousalya, Ch. Sana, Ch. Subbalakshmi and Ch. Vinay Kumar, attacked and robbed a person on the BRTS Road, Mr. Ashok Kumar said.

Likewise, the CCS police arrested four youth, who targeted the public at isolated places by moving in an auto. The accused, G. Kalyan, A. Suresh, Y. Sandeep and T. Durga Prasad, beat an auto driver who was asleep in his vehicle at Ajitsingh Nagar on June 18 and escaped with some cash, the DCP said.
