The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams will construct a Ganesha temple at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad shortly, according to its chairman Kanumuri Bapiraju.

The TTD chairman visited Kanaka Durga temple atop of Indrakeeladri here on Saturday. Speaking to reporters, he said that the TTD would take possession of the land at Banjara Hills immediately and a gosala would also be opened there. The TTD was also contemplating using its land at Bhavanipuram here. It was toying with many ideas like constructing a choultry for the devotees visiting the Kanaka Durga temple. The issue, however, could not be discussed as there was no regular Executive Office here, he said.

When asked about complaints on extended hours for VVIPs’ darshan at Tirumala, Mr. Bapiraju said: “I have not received any such complaints. The commoner is top priority for the TTD.” The devotees who were thronging the hillshrine by walk were being given VIP treatment. For instance, recently 46,000 devotees had darshan on a single day. Of this, 25,000 devotees came on foot. The TTD was arranging water, snacks and food to them en route and special darshan for them, he explained.

“The scribes were suggested to come on foot and experience it. Even I go to the temple in queue,” he asserted.

Growing demand

Referring to Srivari Kalyanotsavam at foreign countries, he said that the demand was growing. Recently, Kalyanotsavam was conducted at Nepal. About three lakh people attended the function. The Nepal Prime Minister has asked the TTD to conduct the ceremony every year. Likewise, there is a demand from countries like South Africa, Dubai, and Japan also, he added.
