Efforts are under way to set up a tribal university in Bhadrachalam for promotion of higher educational opportunities in the tribal areas, said Bhadrachalam MLA Kunja Satyavati.
Speaking at a meeting held in connection with the 70th death anniversary of legendary tribal martyr Komaram Bheem at Samakka-Saralamma Girijana Pranganam in the temple town on Friday, she said the renowned freedom fighter Komaram Bheem laid down his life for the cause of tribals. “His illustrious life remains a source of inspiration for all,” she remarked and asserted that special emphasis has been laid on the accelerated development of the remote tribal areas by the State and Central governments.
ITDA Project Officer Praveen Kumar exhorted the tribal organisations to supplement the efforts of the government for spreading literacy and expanding the educational opportunities in tribal areas.
"Literacy holds the key to create social awareness and bring about change in the lives of the tribals," he said and called upon tribal associations to draw inspiration from the life of Komaram Bheem.
