Sambasiva Rao, DGP, on Monday exhorted the police force, especially those under training, to improve the image of the department by speaking respectfully with the public. He was speaking at a programme marking the start of the ‘induction training’ for 350 Sub-Inspectors and ASIs at the Police Training College (PTC) here.
“When a complainant comes to us for help, he will be happy if you speak respectfully with him whether or not you would be able to help him. Listen to the complainant patiently, verify if there is truth in it and then respond,” said Mr. Sambasiva Rao.
Recalling his days at the college, Mr. Rao said the PTC had developed in a big way and promised all possible funds required for its further development.
Highlighting the fact that 43% of the trainees in the extant batch were women, Mr. Rao said it was the result of the Chief Minister giving importance to them in all walks of life. The DGP distributed laptops to all the trainee SIs and ASIs and announced that all constables would also soon get them to get acquainted with technology.
Heaping praise on Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for being adept at technology, Mr Rao said the future of the police force was intertwined with the usage of technology.
“All 350 of you should be adept at using drone cameras and body cameras besides the footage for effective policing before you complete training in the next one year,” he said.
Later in the day, Mr. Sambasiva Rao inaugurated the newly constructed Tadipatri town police station along with G.V.G. Ashok Kumar, SP, Tadipatri TDP MLA J.C. Prabhakar Reddy and other municipality officials.
