In a bizarre accident, two children aged four died when they got accidentally locked inside a parked car in a colony at Gayathrinagar behind the KIMS hospital on Pinnamaneni Polyclinic Road here on Thursday.
The children went inside the car at around noon and they got stuck there after the vehicle's central locking system suddenly became operational.
The car was parked in a shed located beside a row of huts on a vacant site in the colony.
The children were identified as Udaya Kiran alias Siddhu, son of car driver Shyam Sundar, and Prakash, son of watchman Govindayya.
The deaths were reportedly caused due to suffocation as the children remained inside the car for many hours with relatives and local people not noticing them immediately.
When the children, who were initially thought to have fallen unconscious, were taken to a nearby corporate hospital, they were declared “brought dead.”
The police were yet to confirm the information relating to the death of the children. It was not immediately known to whom the site belonged to and who the car owner was.
The parents started crying inconsolably after the doctors declared that the children were no more. They said that their children were playing around somewhere but could not foresee that this kind of a accident would occur.
