An unevenly finished manhole by the VMC was responsible for the death of a two-wheeler rider. The deceased has been identified as K. Samson Vijay Kumar (55). Kumar was riding a scooter on Eluru road and was travelling from the Ring road to One Town. Near Machavaram he fell on the road after his scooter passed an uneven manhole. A tractor that was coming from behind ran over him causing fatal injuries and he died on the spot.
The Machavaram police have taken the driver of the tractor into custody and seized his vehicle. The body has been sent to the Government General Hospital for post mortem. The unevenly finished manhole on the Eluru Road near Vijaya Krishna Super Bazaar has been causing a lot of problems for commuters. Despite several complaints the matter appears to have fallen on deaf ears, said a shopkeeper from that area.
