The Kankipadu police have arrested four persons including three engineering students here in connection with teasing and hatching a conspiracy to kidnap a girl, studying in B.Tech third year.

Briefing the media here on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner of Police M. Ravindranath Babu said, on receiving a complaint from the girl's father, the police arrested Gandham Pavan Kumar, 18, of Eedpugallu, Beemana Jeevan,18, of Thadigadapa, Kotiaplli Nagendra,19, of Tadepalli mandal on Saturday morning.

All of them are pursuing their engineering second year course in a private college at Kanuru. Nadipalli Bhasker Santhosh,21, of Kamaiahthopu, who runs a photostat shop opposite the engineering college, was also arrested for his alleged involvement in the case.

‘Harassment'

‘Pavan Kumar has been harassing the girl for the past few months and when there was no response from the girl, he cut his hand with a blade and came to her house with his associates. The youth even hatched a plan to kidnap the girl and marry her” said the DCP. Acting on a complaint, police arrested all the accused, he said.

Cases were registered against the accused and police were planning to open suspect-sheets against them. The DCP said anyone could make a complaint of eve-teasing to him by calling his mobile number 9440627219. Strict action would be initiated after inquiry, he said.
