Temporary Secretariat inauguration on April 25

April 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The temporary Secretariat complex being constructed by Shapoorji Pallonji and Larsen & Toubro at Velagapudi in Guntur district is going to be inaugurated at 4.01 a.m. on April 25, instead of June 15, which is the deadline imposed by the government.

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana told the media that the function was scheduled for coming Monday as there would be no ‘muhurtams’ during the Krishna Pushkarams.

The construction companies were asked to prepare two rooms for the event while carrying out the project at a brisk pace.

‘No muhurtams’

“Astrologers are saying that there are no ‘muhurtams’ for six months from May. Therefore, we have no alternative except to advance the function,” Mr. Narayana said, adding that the A.P Capital Region Development Authority was instructed to take necessary action.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has given his nod for the event and arrangements are going on in a full swing.

It may be noted that Shapoorji Pallonji and L&T are constructing the temporary capital city in six blocks and the roof work for the Chief Minister’s office has already been completed.

They are left with just over seven weeks from April 25 to give the final shape to the Secretariat and other essential buildings.
