Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will take part in the Teacher’s Day celebrations of the Andhra Pradesh government to be held at Police Parade Grounds here on September 5.
The decision to organise the event at the parade grounds came after the authorities expressed their reservations against organising the event on the premises of the Acharya Nagarjuna University. Commissioner of Collegiate Education, K. Sunitha, had even visited the ANU campus and inspected the H.H Deichmann Auditorium for the purpose.
The district authorities also scouted for a few places like GMCANA auditorium on the premises of Guntur Medical College, but finally came to the conclusion that the heavily guarded Police Parade Grounds was the most suited for hosting the event.
On Tuesday evening, Collector Kantilal Dande, along with the two SPs, Rajesh Kumar (Guntur Urban) and P.H.D Ramakrishna (Guntur Rural), inspected the grounds and made a few suggestions pertaining to the smooth conduct of the programme. “The ground has two entry points and a helipad. The location of Inspection Bungalow within a short distance makes it convenient for Mr. Naidu and his Cabinet colleagues to take rest,” he said. The programme is expected to start by 3 p.m. and end by 5 p.m on September 5.
