The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) district unit has chalked out two-pronged strategy to strengthen the party from grassroots level, and gear up for the coming local body elections. As the first step in that direction, the TDP prepared a schedule to conduct the meetings at every mandal in the district from June 29 to July 30.

The party is of the view that the party cadre need to be enthused and motivated to re-establish its contact with a cross-section of people, more particularly farmers and women. In fact, the cadre itself had lost touch with the party. Though committees were formed up to booth level, the party workers were not aware that they were members of committees. To tide over these hitches and glitches, the mandal-level meetings were being organised.

The TDP has asked its mandal leadership to identify local problems, and draw up plans and build up agitation like sit-in protests and road blockade on behalf of people. This apart, it wanted the mandal units to highlight the burning issues including price rice, crop loans, scarcity of seeds and fertilizers, and delay in release of scholarships, to create awareness among people. More particularly, it wanted the cadre to highlight the alleged inefficiency of the government and its ‘failure' to keep the electoral promises. Telugu Desam leadership wants to cash in on the alleged inefficiency of the Government, and split in votes due to advent of YSR Congress party etc.
