The YSR Congress leaders and activists went about in a routine way trying to enforce bandh in their respective constituencies, in protest against the tabling of the AP Reorganisation Bill in Parliament and the suspension of the 16 MPs, here on Friday.
YSR Congress city convenor Jaleel Khan took out a rally in the Old Town area and forced down the shutters of various private and government establishments such as Head Post Office, BSNL Office and nationalised banks.
Vijayawada Central constituency in-charge P. Gowtham Reddy took out a rally from the Bhagat Singh Road to Ramavarapadu Ring and burnt an effigy denoting the Central government.
Addressing a gathering at Ramavarapadu Ring, he said that Congress leaders, MPs and Ministers from the Seemandhra region who failed to keep the State united should immediately step down. Lashing out at the Congress leaders, he said, “When the State is in turmoil, the Congress leaders are busy attending inauguration functions,” he said.
Mr. Gowtham Reddy said that tabling of the Bill was unconstitutional and undemocratic as the MPs were not informed about it. He termed the attack on the MPs from Seemandhra in Parliament on Thursday as a black spot in the modern Indian Parliamentary history.
‘Revoke suspension’Advocates staged a demonstration in front of the Civil Courts here on Friday protesting against the rough treatment and suspension of MPs from Seemandhra region during the introduction of the A.P Reorganisation Bill in Parliament. They brought the vehicular traffic to a halt for sometime and shouted slogans against the Centre for trying to get the Bill passed in an arbitrary manner. Office-bearers of the Bezawada Bar Association regretted that the MPs of both the Congress and the TDP from Seemandhra were assaulted by MPs from other States.
