Guinness record holder Bhakta Anjaneya Sweets, popularly known as Tapeswaram Sweets, is planning to expand its business in Andhra Pradesh. The organisation will launch one stall in Vijayawada on Sunday, and one each at Guntur and Bhimavarm (West Godavari) soon. Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah will inaugurate the stall at Hotel Kosala on Bandar Road (Beside South India Shopping Mall) on Sunday.
The organisation is at present operating from Tapeswaram village in East Godavari district. This is the only sweet outlet preparing 75 tonnes of kajas and 50 tonnes of putarekulu per annum, according to the proprietor S. Venkateswara Rao (Srinu Babu).
120 varieties
Tapeswaram Sweets is also planning to export its delicacies to other countries. The sweet makers are known the world over for preparing ghee kajas and putarekulu (paper sweet) . The 77-year-old sweet house has made plans to send the mouth-watering recipes to the U.S, Australia, Dubai and other countries, said Mr. Venkateswara Rao. “Saladi Satyanarayana Murthy was the founder of Tapeswaram Sweets. We are preparing about 120 varieties of sweet items and 23 types of hot items now. Bhakta Ajnajeya Sweets is known for traditional sweets,” said Srinu Babu. Tapeswaram Sweets entered into Guinness Book of Records for five times from 2011 to 2015 for preparing the biggest laddu, which weighs 8,369 kg, for Vinayaka Chaviti. The sweet makers are also holders of Miracle World Records, Asian Book of Records, World Amazing Records, Book of State Records, and Telugu Book of Records.
Recently, Bhakta Anjayeya Sweets supplied 25 tonnes of sweets in three days for capital foundation stone laying at Thullur in Guntur district. “This year, we are planning to prepare the largest laddu for the Vinayaka Chaviti festival in Vijayawada,” he said.
