For people who were reeling under humidity and a scorching sun, the summer showers and the resultant chill weather came as a big relief on Friday.

The break of dawn was greeted with noisy thunders and a drizzle for a very brief period, giving the much-needed respite from the sweltering heat. With the sun going behind the clouds, it was gala time for people who saw through the day in a joyful mood.

For a city which acquired the sobriquet ‘Blazewada’, the low pressure shower and the overcast sky made it look like a hill station ala Ooty or Kodaikanal. There was considerable drop in temperature. The city witnessed a minimum temperature of 23.8 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 39.9 degrees Celsius. “I took a long drive though the thoroughfares of the city. The weather was so nice, and I roamed around and completed all my pending works,” says Vishnuvardhan, a businessman.
