: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that struggle for the Special Category Status will be on until the Centre makes a clear announcement on meeting demands of the State.

Reiterating that the BJP and the TDP jointly made promise of granting Special Category Status and taking up all aspects of the AP Reorganisation Act ,Mr. Naidu said that there were no options left expect fighting for demands.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Naidu said that Union Minister Mr. Arun Jaitely told him that all the problems of the State were being discussed and Centre would soon come out with a decision. “I have asked him to announce the same in Parliament. A recent statement in Parliament concerned the people of State and the demand for SCS has come up once again. I have asked all our MPs to stay strong and fight until they get an assurance from the Centre,” he added.

“All the aspects in Reorganisation Act, Special Category Status promised by the then Prime Minister and others must be provided until Andhra Pradesh rises to the level of neighbouring States,” Mr. Naidu said.

Mr. Naidu lashed out at the Congress and the YSR Congress for trying to cash in on the SCS demand. “Due to the bandh call given by YSRC, the APSRTC incurred a loss of about Rs. 4 crore today. There would be no use in fighting here for the status. The YSRC and the Congress should fight in Parliament instead of creating a ruckus in the State,” he added.
