Union Minister of State for Finance J.D. Seelam on Saturday said the Government of India was taking measures to decrease import of coal and pave way for greater utilisation in manufacturing of steel, cement, and production of power.
Addressing a meeting after laying the foundation stone for the proposed income tax office and residential complex at Adavitakkellapadu village here, Mr. Seelam said the government had been successful in controlling the price of sugar and hoped that inflation would come down within a few months.
The I-T Department here, which holds jurisdiction over three districts of Guntur, Prakasam, and Nellore, had been allotted a five acre plot by the district administration where an office and residential complex would come up.
Earlier, Minister for Agriculture Kanna Lakshminarayana pointed out that taxes paid by assessees were being pooled and used for various welfare activities of the State and Central governments.
He said the issue of land allotment was pending for the last seven years and expressed happiness that the I-T Department could get the land finally.
MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao complimented I-T officers and personnel for a record increase in advance tax mobilisation for the year 2013. The Ministers and MLAs complimented district Collector S. Suresh Kumar for taking the initiative to allot the land to the I-T Department.
Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Suresh Jandhyala, Director-General of Income Tax (Investigations) P. Raghu, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax-111, A.P., A.K. Behara, and Commissioner of Income Tax J. Krishna Kishore were present.
