The Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (ITE&C) Department of Andhra Pradesh has entered into an agreement with Kii Corporation, a global leader in IoT (Internet-of-Things) solutions with corporate offices in Tokyo, California, Shanghai, and London, for collaboration in smart buildings, smart cities and smart rural pilots, and IoT Centres of Excellence (CoE).

A.P. government’s Special Chief Secretary and IT Advisor J.A. Chowdary and Kii Corp. Co-Founder Masanari Arai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of IT Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy here on Wednesday.

According to an official release, the Kii Corp. will help the State government in adopting IoT in smart buildings, starting with the International Institute of Design Technologies building coming up at Tirupati and extend cooperation to rolling out IoT in other public buildings. In the smart cities space, Kii Corp. will execute smart city pilots in the areas like agriculture and energy, in addition to transforming Visakhapatnam and Tirupati into smart cities in conformity with the conceptual framework of the Government of A.P.

The Japanese company will set up IoT CoE in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati.

Welcoming the Kii Corp.’s initiatives, Mr. Raghunatha Reddy said the partnership was in the broader context of the Japanese government’s interest in and commitment to socio-economic development of the State. Kii Corp. Senior Advisor Tsuyoshi Kinoshita and Chief Product Officer Phani Pandrangi were among those present.
