Additional Director-General of Police (sports) Rajiv Trivedi has complimented Police Commissioner N. Madhusudhan Reddy and other officers on launching spy mobile system to track criminals.
Mr. Trivedi, who was in the city on Tuesday, reviewed the functioning of City Crime Records Bureau (CCRD), Special Branch (SB), AR (Armed Reserve), and the administration in the Commissioner’s office.
He verified the records in different sections and expressed satisfaction over the maintenance.
Mr. Trivedi said that spy mobile (identifying criminals by using iris technology) would help track criminals and bring down the crime rate.
The Commissioner said that the police checked about 1,900 persons with spy mobile and identified 120 criminals so far.
Mr. Madhusudhan Reddy gave a demo on Bio-Metric System (identifying criminals with finger prints) proposed to be implemented in the city. He explained the Additional Director-General on how the police were tracking previous offenders by using iris technology.
Speaking to newsmen later, Mr. Trivedi said that the government was encouraging sportspersons in the Police Department.
A police constable and expert swimmer, Tulasi Chaitanya of Vijayawada, won many medals. Government was providing necessary training to Mr. Chaitanya in Bangalore and was providing all facilities to participate in many more events, said Mr. Trivedi.
New houses for police
The State government was proposing to renovate the police quarters and construct new houses for the police in the city. Police canteens would be set up in Vijayawada and other districts in the State soon, he added.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (administration) S.A. Khan, Assistant Commissioners of Police T. Hari Krishna, P.S.N. Rao, V. Raghava Rao, Satyanarayana and other officers were present.
