Union Sports Ministry Joint Secretary G.S.S. Iyengar on Wednesday inspected the stadiums and playfields in Vijayawada along with Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) assistant director G. Venkataramana and District Sports Development Officer P. Ramakrishna. He inspected IGMC Stadium and Makineni Basavapunnaiah Stadium where proposals for a synthetic athletic track and an astro turf hockey field were sent to the Sport Ministry.
He also visited the Vidyadharapuram where a site has been allotted to the District Sports Authority for construction of a multipurpose indoor stadium.
