Central government accused of taking people of the State for a ride

YSR Congress activists lead by party MLAs staged dharnas demanding Special Category Status (SCS) to the State in front of district Collectorates on Tuesday. They raised slogans saying that the SCS was a right of people in the State and the Central government had deceived them.

Attempts by party activists to force their way into the Collectorate in Srikakulam were thwarted by the police.

In Kurnool, MLAs Gouru Charitha Reddy, Saiprasad Reddy and S. Aijaiah, former MLAs Kothakota Prakash Reddy and P. Muralikrishna and district president Gouru Venkata Reddy led the protest.

In Kadapa, YSRC legislators S. Raghurami Reddy, P. Raveendranatha Reddy, S.B. Amjad Basha, K. Srinivasulu and Rachamallu Prasada Reddy, district president A. Amarnath Reddy and Kadapa Mayor K. Suresh Babu and activists picketed the Collectorate. In Vizianagaram, a groups led by former Minister Botcha Satyanarayana and the party district president and MLC Veerabhadra Swamy shared the platform. Though some party leaders deserted the party and joined the TDP, the cadres are with the party, Mr. Swamy claimed.

The party central committee member P. Sambasiva Raju, MLAs Rajanna Dora and Pushpa Srivani, former MLAs Botcha Appala Narasaiah and Baddukonda Appala Naidu and others participated in the protest in front of the Collectorate.

In Nellore, MLAs Kakani Govardhan Reddy, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, P. Anil Kumar Yadav, Kiliveti Sanjeevaiah, and Pratapkumar Reddy led the agitation. Former MLA Nallapureddy Prasannakumar Reddy participated.

YSRC MLAs Desai Tippa Reddy (Madanapalle), Chintala Ramachandra Reddy (Piler) and Sunil Kumar (Puthalapattu) participated in the dharna in front of the Chittoor Collectorate. Chittoor Assembly constituency in-charge Jangalapalle Srinivasulu led the agitation.

In Srikakulam, party activists tried in vain to enter the Collectorate. The police who were present in strength thwarted the attempts.
