December 10, 2014 12:35 am | Updated 12:35 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute (MSME-DI, Hyderabad) Director Arvind Patwari exhorted industrialists to focus on innovation in both manufacturing and marketing to be leaders in the respective fields. Only constant innovation in marketing the products gives them the edge over competitors, he asserted.

Addressing a workshop on infrastructure development in industrial estates jointly organised by MSME-DI and JRD IALA (The Kanuru Notified Panchayat JRD Tata Industrial Area Services Society) here on Tuesday, Mr. Patwari said new ideas would makes businesses dynamic and match the industry trends, without which a sense of complacency would creep in, ultimately pushing enterprises into dire straits.

The MSME-DI was giving 90 per cent grant for creation of infrastructure in industrial estates with the balance to be contributed by the respective Industrial Area Local Authorities (IALA). In addition to infrastructure and credit support, MSME-DI offered schemes for the much-needed upgrading of technology.

District Industries Centre General Manager G. Rajendra Prasad stressed the need for a land bank that would meet requirements of industries keen on foraying into the State post-bifurcation.

JRD IALA Chairman V. Ramesh Babu said industries in Andhra Pradesh lagged behind their counterparts in neighbouring States in benefiting from the schemes offered by MSME-DI. JRD IALA has recently begun augmenting infrastructure with funding to the tune of Rs. 6 crore under the cluster development programme of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Zonal Manager M. Murali Mohan and MSME-DI Assistant Director D. Kiran Kumar participated.
