Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU) has been shortlisted for establishment of Atal Incubation Centre (AIC).

Informing it, SKU Vice-Chancellor Rajagopal said that the Atal Innovative Mission (AIM), which was entrusted with the task of receiving applications, identifying and shortlisting the eligible institutions across the country for establishment of AICs, had chosen the university. The AIM had received a total of 3,658 applications from the country and of them 181 from Andhra Pradesh, the Vice-Chancellor said.

“Of the total applicants from the State, only SKU was selected for establishment of the AIC,” he claimed. Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), a key wing of NITI Ayog, intends to support the establishment of incubation centres. The AICs would be provided world class incubation facilities right from physical infrastructure to operating facilities.

“The AIM will provide a grant-in-aid up to ₹10 crore for a maximum period of five years to cover the capital and operational expenditures to establish the AIC,” said Prof. Rajagopal.

He said the entire academic and administrative establishment at the university was being tuned towards research and development activities to effectively use the facilities. University Registrar Sudhakar Babu, Rector H. Lajpat Rai and others were present.
