Law Minister K. Ravindra on Sunday said the State government would set up a skill development centre on the National College campus to train local youth in various fields.

Addressing the farmers at Gokavaram village near Machilipatnam, Mr. Ravindra told them that the government would ensure employment opportunities to those who would directly lose livelihood options due to the proposed port and industrial corridor.

Mr. Ravindra, accompanied by Machilipatnam Member of Parliament K. Narayana, on Sunday received consent letters from the farmers of Gokavaram, parting with their land for the deep sea port.

Mr. Narayana appealed to the farmers to persuade their counterparts in the other villages to complete gathering of 33,000 acres of land under the Land Pooling Scheme. In an interaction with the farmers, Machilipatnam Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Vice-Chairman M. Venugopala Reddy said that farmers had spared 6,000 acres for the port project by submitting their consent letters under the Land Pooling Scheme.
