Short films should touch hearts: Mahesh Kathi

March 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Noted actor and director Mahesh Kathi of ‘Pesarattu’ and ‘Hrudaya Kaleyam’ fame, exhorted budding short film-makers to be innovative in making out the concepts and in presenting them in such a way to catch the fancy of viewers. Short films have good appeal among the people but they need to be crisp and present new ideas in new ways, he said in the valedictory of the Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV)’s national workshop on short film-making at Nagarjuna Hospitals here on Sunday.

On the occasion, Mr. Mahesh said there was no dearth of ideas but they were found lagging in the style of presentation and messages that should touch the hearts. Some upcoming film-makers were doing good work and more of it was desired, he observed.

Director and cinematographer M.V. Raghu explained the technical aspects of short-film making and another Director C. Umamaheswara Rao dealt with the directional aspects of film-making.

Nagarjuna Hospitals founder K. Jaganmohan Rao, film editor C. Nandan Babu, JVV national convener N. Phanindra, State secretary J. Krishna Kishore, secretary M. Sankar Prasad and others spoke.
