City Police Commissioner N. Madhusudhan Reddy has directed the police to identify the houses occupied by only senior citizens and give them tips on security.

Speaking at the crime review meeting here on Thursday, Mr. Reddy reviewed the law and order situation, prevention of crime, traffic problem, and prevention of road accidents in the city.

The Commissioner asked the police to identify the houses of senior citizens and increase beats to the localities regularly. The local police should enquire the problems of the senior citizens and give them suggestions on security aspects, he said.

He directed the police to give important phone numbers to be dialled in emergency. Senior citizens should also be careful about their drivers and servants, he advised.

Police should increase beats to prevent thefts during summer, he added. The station house officers should keep a vigil on previous offenders who were released from jails. Residents should not keep valuables in homes and lock the houses properly, said the CP.

The shops and other establishment owners were requested to arrange CC cameras. The managements should also make alternative power supply arrangement in case of power shutdown during summer, said the police.

Residents staying in apartments and the hotel managements were requested to arrange CC cameras on their premises.

Regarding road accidents, the police were instructed to identify accident prone areas/ junctions on National Highways abutting the city for taking the necessary action.

The police and the Transport Department officials booked 1,170 cases in a month, said the Police Commissioner.

Cash prizes

Later, the city Police Commissioner awarded cash prizes to 22 police personnel who exhibited good performance in discharging their duties.
