SCR registers 16 p.c growth: DRM

Vijayawada Railway Division celebrated the 64th Independence Day with fervour at the rail stadium on Sunday.

Divisional Railway Manager Anurag unfurled the national flag and inspected the guard of honour presented by Railway Protection Force, Scouts and Guides contingents of Vijayawada division.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Anurag, gave details about the performance of the railway division.

Achievements

On the achievements of South Central Railway, he said the zone had achieved significant milestones during the current financial year. The earnings of the division had surpassed that of the previous year's revenue by Rs. 220 crore, registering a growth rate of 16 per cent. The gross originating earnings exceeded that of the previous year's revenue by Rs.290 crore registering a growth rate of 14.4 per cent

He said the zone proposed to commission 174 kms of new line during the current financial year constituting nearly 20 per cent of the target for new lines on Indian Railways.

The celebrations also marked an impressive parade by the RPF, cultural shows by students belonging to Railway Schools depicting Nationalism and social harmony which won the applause from audience.

Additional Divisional Railway Manager B. Jaya Raj, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Mishra, and others were present at the celebrations.
