After a lull, the Student Joint Action Committee, agitating for a united State, has warned that it will revive the agitation if the Centre does not come out with a strong message on keeping the State united.
At a meeting held on the premises of Acharya Nagarjuna University attended by representatives from 14 universities in coastal and Rayalaseema regions, convener of student JAC Kishore demanded that the Centre make its stand clear on the Telangana issue and clear the clouds of uncertainty hovering over the State.
‘Hasty decision’
“We want the Centre to know that we are ready to revive the agitation for a united State. The Centre had taken a hasty decision in the past plunging the State into a crisis,” Mr. Kishore said.
Later at a media conference, convener of the political Joint Action Committee M. Samuel and honorary president P. Narasimha Rao said the meeting, held in the backdrop of a revival in agitations for separate Telangana, had discussed various strategies to revive the agitation.
On Minister for Minor Irrigation T.G Venkatesh’s comments on creation of a regional council for Telangana on the lines of Darjeeling, Prof. Samuel said the idea was inconceivable at this stage and wanted a decision in support of a united State.
