All train services to Telangana region resume
Several trains coming from Hyderabad and via Kazipet from northern cities were running several hours behind schedule due to the 12-hour rail roko called by the TJAC on Thursday.
All train services to the Telangana region resumed by 7 p.m. from Vijayawada. Three trains were terminated in Vijayawada in the morning. Passengers of Krishna Express, Falaknuma Express, and East Coast Express were refunded the fare at a special counter near the parcel office.
The Railways requested the APSRTC Vijayawada Region to arrange for buses to Hyderabad for 1,300 passengers of these trains from 6 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. These passengers boarded the buses just outside the platform near the parcel office.
Meanwhile, the RTC operated three special services from the railway station to the bus station to enable passengers getting down here and wanting to go to other destinations. By evening, the RTC arranged another 20 buses towards Hyderabad as some of the trains were cancelled or rescheduled.
There was heavy demand for travel to Warangal, but the road distance being longer and fare being too high, not many chose to travel by bus and instead waited for trains to resume services by night.
While 26 buses were arranged for passengers of Falaknuma Express, 10 buses were arranged for those of Krishna and East Coast expresses, officials said.
