Rs.14 cr. compensation paid to farmers

The government has paid compensation worth Rs. 14 crore to farmers who had lost land owing to the construction of a bypass to Kankipadu village on the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam stretch on National Highway 9. Sub-Collector D. Harichandana gave away cheques to land owners.

Kankipadu village was a major bottleneck on NH-9 with regular traffic jams causing a great deal of inconvenience to people.

Deputy Tahasildar M. Saradha, Revenue Inspector Sujatha, V.R.O. S. Sivaram Prasad and Veeraswamy were present.
