October 17, 2011 02:14 pm | Updated 02:14 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Rail Mazdoor Union members in the South Central Railway will wear black badges on duty on Monday as a sign of protest against the ongoing Rail Roko forced by the Telangana Joint Action Committee.

“We are all wearing black badges on October 17 to make an appeal to all sympathisers and Railway users also to extend their solidarity. All the 25,000 Railway employees in the Telangana region covered by Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded Divisions have not supported and worked well and proved their commitment towards national Integration,” said union general secretary Taranikanti Srinivas.

Telangana was an inseparable part of S C Railway which covers five states, the release said.

The Railway employees have been serving them for the past many decades and would do so in future too, it added.

Restraint shown by the Railway administration, decision by the State Government and police action were appreciable, it observed.
