Minister for Medical Education P. Sudarsana Reddy has asserted that officials will complete all works relating to Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here by May 15 to get MCI nod for admitting 100 students into the medical college from the coming academic year.
He inspected the medical college and hospital buildings under construction and told the officials that there would be no dearth of funds. Saying that the government had sanctioned Rs. 15 crores this year, he asked the officials to complete the ground floor of outpatient and inpatient wings of the hospital and hostel buildings quickly.
MCI team visit
The Medical Council of India team was expected to visit the facilities by the month-end.
He wanted the officials to complete all required facilities and get permission from the MCI.
He said that as the soil was poor, the estimated cost of the buildings went up steeply, necessitating additional allocations for Ongole college, which led to delay. There were some problems from the contractor side too. He said that all these problems were resolved and officials were working hard to achieve the target.
He complimented Minister for Mines Balineni Srinivasa Reddy for prevailing upon the Chief Minister and getting additional funds to complete the buildings.
