August 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:19 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

District Collector Babu A. on Friday asked engineers and contractors at Punnami ghat to remove soil deposits accumulated at the site.

Mr. Babu, along with Municipal Commissioner G. Veerapandian, visited the ghat and inspected the ongoing works. Directing the officials to engage tractors and tippers to shift the soil and the garbage strewn around the place, he said since VIPs would be visiting this ghat, extra care must be taken to keep the place neat and tidy.

He asked the Tourism wing officials to beautify the jetty by giving it a coat of fresh paint and complete construction of the approach road leading to the ghat.

At Durga ghat, he directed the officials to ensure completion of the ongoing works on a war-footing. He also wanted the works at construction of a ramp that joins the ghat with the road to be expedited. Wherever works were completed, the heaps of soil must be removed to keep the place clean, he urged.

He said the Transco officials must get the unused electricity poles and cables removed and complete the works in progress at command and control room. The tensile structure being installed in the place adjacent to the control room must also be completed at the earliest, he said.
