The alleged illegal activities in MJM Vocational Junior College occurred with the knowledge of the management and the hostel wardress reportedly procured orphan girls for outsiders and collected money.
Civil contractor Mynam Venkata Bhaskar, accused-3 in the case, and was arrested by the police, allegedly outraged the modesty of a girl in Navajeevan Bala Bhavan, when the latter came to the home for computer training.
In the remand report submitted to the court (a copy of the report is available with The Hindu ), the police who are investigating the alleged ‘sex racket' case in MJM College stated that hostel wardress and accused-1 in the case, A. Vijaya Kumari, sent the students with Venkata Bhaskar and accused-2 Chekurthi Bhaskara Rao for doing illegal activities.
During investigation it was found that, MJM College administrative officer Bhaskara Rao, visited the girls hostel located at Pottipadu village and allegedly behaved indecently with the inmates. He took some students out in the college car with the knowledge of Vijaya Kumari.
Some students lodged a complaint against Vijaya Kumari and Bhaskar Rao with institute correspondent and accused- 4, Teressa, over the illegal activities, but no action was taken, said the police.
According to the police, some students from the college went to Chiguru Campus of Navajeevan Bala Bhavan, located at Venkatayapalem village in Guntur district for learning computer course and spoken English.
Contractor Venkata Bhaskar, who was staying in a room in Bala Bhavan developed intimacy with a girl and behaved indecently.
Students threatened
Later, the wardress contacted Venkata Bhaskar over phone, sent the girl to him again and collected money. Vijaya Kumari also sent some other students to Vijayawada and Eluru.
Vijaya Kumari, who was also a lecturer in the college threatened the students to give low marks in physics and chemistry practical examinations and forced the girls into illegal activities, the police said.
When contacted by The Hindu on Tuesday, Navajeevan Bala Bhavan Executive Director Fr. Thomas Koshy, who is also the Krishna District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) chairman, said that there was no complaint against Venkata Bhaskar during his stay in the campus.
“I am unaware of the activities in MJM Vocational Junior College hostels”, Mr. Koshy said.
