Former MP Rayapati Samabsiva Rao, who actively participated in the Samaikyandhra agitation, is now searching for a place in various political parties.
The five-time MP, who created a sensation by moving a no-confidence motion along with five other Congress MPs against the UPA Government, was later suspended by the Congress.
A staunch supporter of the Congress, Mr. Sambasiva Rao was elected for four times to the Lok Sabha and once to the Rajya Sabha. His brother Rayapati Srinivasa Rao was an MLC and his son Rayapati Mohan Sai Krishna served as Mayor of Guntur.
It is said that Mr. Sambasiva Rao thought of joining the TDP seeking Guntur Lok Sabha seat. But, industrialist and former Minister Galla Aruna Kumari’s son Galla Jayadev, who joined the TDP, is insisting on Guntur Lok Sabha seat.
Not relenting, the former MP is making efforts to join the TDP with an eye on the Narsaraopet Lok Sabha seat. His brother too is planning to follow him, it is learnt.
Supporters of Mr. Sambasiva Rao say that he would take a decision after the TDP’s ‘Rythu Garjana’ on March 16. Speculation is also rife that he may continue in the Congress and is making efforts to strike a compromise with the high command.
