SVM bowling alley was abuzz with activity on Wednesday as the promoters organised fresher’s tournament focusing on newcomers. As many as 106 youths took part in the tournament, of whom 94 were qualified for the second round and 53 reached the final.
The final, which witnessed intense battle, saw Md. Raheem winning the coveted trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000. Clinching the second and third places were B. Chandrahas and Vidya Sagar. “They won Rs. 4,000 and Rs. 2,000 respectively along with a trophy and a participation certificate,” said Mr. Vijayender Tulla, the man behind setting up the alley. The tournament witnessed Abdul Muzeeb emerging as the highest scorer.
“Recreation in Vijayawada was restricted to cinemas and hotels. Now the trend has changed. More and more youngsters are visiting the malls to play bowling which is fast catching up in the city,” said Tulla. He said the alley was conducting tournaments regularly for his customers since 2012 and this was the seventh one to be conducted in the city.
