The CPI(M) has taken strong exception to TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao's remarks that “it is better to take poison if Telangana is not carved out.”
Party State secretary B.V. Raghavulu on Tuesday told media persons that Mr. Rao's statement was not appreciable and unwarranted. Participating in a ‘chaitanya yatra' organised by the local unit near Dabakotla centre here, he said that such remarks were unjustified in democracy.
The TRS should take up an agitation if it felt the people were facing hardship, he said.
The CPI(M) welcomed the government's move to dump the Rajiv Arogyasri scheme, which was beneficial more to private hospitals than the poor, he said.
The government, instead, should emulate the Kerala model and strengthen the public health care, he added.
Replying to a question on YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy's statement that the Cabinet should be held responsible for the Emmar issue, the CPI (M) leader said Mr. Jagan was trying to evade CBI inquiry.
The court would have initiated or directed an inquiry into the role of the Cabinet had the Kadapa MP told facts to it, he said.
Referring to the padayatra, Mr. Raghavulu said the CPI(M) was organising awareness rallies in all the 140 urban local bodies in the State.
The party would stage a massive agitation after August 17 to mount pressure on the government to address the problems in urban areas, he added.
CPI(M) city secretary R. Raghu, State Committee member Ch. Babu Rao, former corporators D. Kasinath and K. Sridevi were present.
