Pushkaram works will be done by month-end: Minister

All facilities will be provided for pilgrims, says Narayana

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana said on Wednesday that all the works for Krishna Pushkarams would be completed by the end of July.

Mr. Narayana along with city Mayor Koneru Sridhar inspected the ghats and other developmental works being taken up to cater to the needs of the people.

Mr. Narayana told the media that rains on a couple of days had hampered certain works recently but the weather now was dry and conducive to continue the projects.

225 ghats

“All the works will be completed by the end of this month and necessary steps are being taken. 24 pushkar nagars will be developed in and around Vijayawada where all facilities will be provided for the devotees. Also, as many as 120 parking lots capable of accommodating more than one lakh vehicles at any point of time are being arranged,” Mr. Narayana said. There were 225 ghats in all, including 123 in Krishna district, 95 in Guntur and 11 in Kurnool where the Krishna flows in 36 mandals, 16 mandals and 2 mandals respectively.

In Vijayawada, a ghat of nearly five kilometres long is being developed with all facilities, he said. “Also, 109 kilometres of roads at a cost of Rs. 98 crore are being laid and works on 16 roads have been completed. Seventy per cent of works are incomplete and July 25{+t}{+h}is set as the last date. 5,000 mobile toilets will also be placed in the city to keep the city clean and hygienic,” he added.

Later, the Minister along with Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration department K. Kanna Babu, VMC Commissioner G. Veerapandian and others inspected the road works in East constituency.
