Opposition parties should cooperate with Government to complete Polavaram, he says

The Pulichintala Multi-Purpose project will be completed by June 2013 at any cost, said Secondary Education Minister Kolusu Parthasarathi. The project was to get completed by December, but due to lethargy of the contractor, it was delayed, he added. The Congress Government is duty-bound to complete the Polavaram Project as early as possible and take all measures to provide it national project status, but the Opposition parties instead of blocking the development initiatives, should cooperate with the State Government to take the project forward.

There was no fact in the criticism that the Advocate General had not put forward the arguments correctly in the Krishna Tribunal hearings, he asserted and informed the reporters that the Government had already filed an affidavit in the High Court (Tuesday) and the case will be heard on Monday.

At a press conference here on Sunday, the Minister took strong objection to Telugu Desam Party issuing the G.O. No.69 with regard to release of waters from Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar Project and demanded them to tell real purpose behind that.

“It has come as a good weapon in pro-Telangana parties like TRS and they have blocked the interests of the Krishna Delta farmers,” alleged Mr. Parthasarathi.

Taking exception to the various dharnas and press conferences being organised by the TDP, he said that N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was in touch with the Karnataka Chief Minister and the Irrigation Minister had written to the Karnataka Government to release water from Alamatti to quench the thirst of people in this region and also for saving the weathering crops, the Minister added.

The Vijayawada West and Central MLA Vellampalli Srinivas and Malladi Vishnu were also present .
