Pseudo naxal arrested in Vuyyuru

The Vuyyuru Town police arrested a final year degree student Turaka Ramakrishna on charge of extorting money from a realtor claiming himself as a former naxalite.

The accused, a native of Chanderrajupalem in Guntur district, was pursuing B.Sc (Computers). Ramakrishna allegedly threatened the complainant, G. Venkateswara Rao, over phone and collected Rs. 25,000 from him.

According to Sub-Inspector B.V. Shiva Prasad, the accused made a phone call to the realtor on March 7 and introduced himself as a former naxalite.

He gave his bank account number for depositing the amount. Again on April 8, Ramakrishna allegedly demanded that another Rs.50,000 should be deposited in the same account.

Following a complaint, the police laid a trap and arrested the accused here on Sunday. Cases have been registered against the accused under Section 384 of IPC (extortion), Section 506 of IPC (criminal intimidation) and Section 419 of IPC (impersonation).

The case is under investigation.
