Priority for safety, says SCR General Manager

The official visits various stations in Guntur Railway Division

P.K. Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway (SCR), has said that the railways is giving priority for safety of passengers. The General Manager visited various stations in Guntur Railway Division on Friday. He observed the facilities and enquired the passengers and staff about the amenities.

Mr. Srivastava inspected the railway colony and running rooms at Nandyal railway station.

He visited the canteens and enquired the staff about the quality of food served and cleanliness on railway premises and on moving trains.

Amenities inspected

The SCR General Manager visited Diguvamitta, Markapur, Donakonda, Nallapadu, and Guntur railway stations. He inspected amenities in rooms provided to Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs), guards and drivers and interacted with the passengers in general waiting halls.

Later, he inaugurated the new railway quarters.

Speaking to newsmen later, Mr. Srivastava said that the SCR in coordination with Commissioner of Railway Safety was taking security measures at all stations. In view of the recent fire accidents on moving trains, instructions were given to the officials to install CC Cameras at necessary points to prevent carrying of inflammable material into stations.

Cleanliness

As regards cleanliness, the railways was taking steps to maintain hygienic conditions on platforms and on trains. Special attention was laid on providing services to senior citizens and physically challenged persons by arranging wheelchairs and stretchers, he said.

Guntur Parliament Member Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and VGTMUDA Chairman Vanukuri Srinivas Reddy met the General Manager and submitted representations requesting them to complete the pending projects in the division.

Principal heads of various departments, Guntur Divisional Railway Manager N.K. Prasad and other officers accompanied the General Manager.
