The Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) President M. Murali Krishna appealed to Southern Power Distribution Company Limited of Andhra Pradesh to include Vijayawada city in the list of cities that have only two-hour power cut.

Citing example of direct impact of power cut on business activity, Mr. Murali Krishna opposed the power distribution companies’ decision of including Vijayawada in the list of cities that will have four-hour power cut in the State.

“The decision of implementing four-hour power shedding in industrial hub of the State is completely biased. It will have its direct impact on industrial activity as well as city’s economic activity,” said Mr. Murali Krishna. The ACCI Secretary expressed his concern over Government’s lack of applying mind while selecting cities for longer power cut schedule despite Vijayawada being important in the transportation sector.

“It was unfortunate that Warangal town was included replacing Vijayawada in the list,” he said.

The ACCI members also appealed to Government to retract its decision on imposing 4-hour power cut and reduce it to two hours in the wake of existence of large number of educational institutions. The ACCI and other industrial unions also threatened of dire consequences if the Southern Power Distribution Company Limited of AP failed to initiate timely action for bringing down power cuts to two hours.
